CashScanPrice.com
The cash price of a scan — from the hospital's own published price file, next to independent centers. No insurance needed to compare.

What does a scan cost if you pay cash?

Hospitals have to publish their cash prices by federal law. Almost nobody reads the files — they're enormous and hard to search. We read them, and put the hospital's own price next to independent imaging centers so you can see the difference before you book.

One example — MRI of the lower back, Salt Lake City area:
First Choice Imaging: $299 · RadiologyAssist partner center: $372 · Bookable through MDsave at a hospital: $1,338 · Intermountain Medical Center's own published cash price: $3,095.

How this works

Every hospital price here comes from the hospital's own published price file — the same file federal law (45 CFR Part 180) requires it to post. The "cash price" we show is the hospital's own discounted cash price: what it says it charges people paying without insurance. Independent centers' prices come from their own published self-pay rates, and marketplace rows are labeled as such. Every price carries its source and date. Full method →
